About

Background

Ellis Smith co-founded American Cannabis Company (OTCQB: AMMJ) in 2013 and has spent more than two decades designing, building, and operating cannabis cultivation facilities across the United States and internationally. ACC was one of the first publicly traded companies focused exclusively on cannabis consulting and operational services. Under his leadership, the firm designed and built over 3 million square feet of grow space, with a focus on lean manufacturing workflows, efficient facility design, and cost-competitive production.

Before ACC, Ellis spent more than a decade cultivating in California's Emerald Triangle, where he pioneered True Living Organics (TLO) at commercial scale and co-founded SoHum Living Soils, an OMRI-certified organic growing medium now distributed through over 100 retail channels nationwide. His work identifying the Hemp Russet Mite in Colorado's medical market became a reference point for industry-wide pest mitigation protocols.

His buildout practice covers the full startup cycle: financial modeling, facility design, equipment sourcing, construction management, hiring, SOP development, and hands-on operations through first harvest. He targets sub-$0.50/gram production costs and pushes GMP/GACP standards for clients positioning for international markets.
